STORY LINE
After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate’s ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by the Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion but never completed. What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never-ending mission as the Stargate Universe crew discovers that the ship is unable to return to Earth and that they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny. The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny’s original mission.
[GLORIA RUSH] (35 - 40) Gloria Rush was a concert violinist. Wife of Nicolas Rush (Robert Carlyle), she lost her battle with cancer two and a half years ago. She was beautiful and tragically struck down in what should have been the high time of her life. She was successful in the thing she loved doing most, in love, and happy. Her only regret was that they could not have children but then, considering how young she would die, she would later admit it may have been for the better. She was the light of Rush’s life and her death has left him bitter, cold and somewhat willing to take risks with his own life that he never would have when she was alive sptv050769. Her death has also driven him to become even more obsessed with uncovering the mysteries of the universe. This episode has Rush subjecting himself to an experiment involving the ship’s computer and flashing back to the time when he was first being recruited into the Stargate program, the same time Gloria was also dying. He never quite dealt with her death at the time and the circumstances forcing him to relive this painful memory mean he will have to finally face the tragedy that he has carried with him most heavily ever since.
